When you create an Alitu account, we collect: your name, email address, and password (stored securely using industry-standard hashing).
Payment Data
When you subscribe to Alitu, our payment processor (Stripe) collects your payment card details. We do not store your full card details — only transaction records, billing address, and the last four digits of your card for reference.
Content Data
When you use Alitu, we store: audio and video files you upload, episodes you create, podcast metadata, and any other content you create within the application.
Usage Data
We collect data about how you use Alitu: features used, session duration, actions taken within the app, and error logs. This helps us improve the product.
Support Data
When you contact our support team, we collect: your communications with us, any files you share for troubleshooting, and your support history.
Technical Data
When you use our website or application, we automatically collect: IP address, browser type, device information, and general location (country/region).
3. How We Use Your Data and Legal Basis
We only process your personal data when we have a valid legal basis:
Where we rely on legitimate interest, we have assessed that our interests do not override your rights. You can object to such processing by contacting us.
4. Who We Share Your Data With
We share your personal data with the following service providers who process data on our behalf:
All processors are contractually required to protect your data and only process it according to our instructions. We have Data Processing Agreements in place with all processors.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
Use of Artificial Intelligence
Alitu is primarily developed and maintained in-house and does not rely on AI for core functionality. Where certain features use third-party AI services, we opt out of allowing your data to be used for AI training wherever such an option is available.
5. International Data Transfers
Your content data (audio files, episodes) is stored on AWS servers in the EU (Ireland region).
Some of our service providers are located in the United States. When we transfer personal data outside the UK, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place through Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the UK Government, along with the UK International Data Transfer Addendum where applicable.
6. How Long We Keep Your Data
- Account and content data: For as long as you maintain an active Alitu account, and then until you request deletion of your data.
- Payment records: 7 years from the date of transaction (required by UK tax law).
- Support conversations: Retained for the duration of your account to provide continuity of support, and then until you request deletion.
- Usage analytics: Retained until deletion requested.
You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.

- Right of Access: Request a copy of your personal data.
- Right to Rectification: Ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Right to Erasure: Ask us to delete your data (subject to legal requirements).
